Story of the Bible - A minus!

Thank you so much, blessed Yahweh! Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord! See below for the comments on my Biblical Studies essay
A- : 8 : Superior - Outstanding Critical Thought, Presentation and Structure, Good coverage.

Sue- excellent work! I can tell you feel comfortable in the Biblical story and you make connections within it with great ease. (See my comments below for more detail on particular strong points.) Excellent bibliography as well. I especially enjoyed your Hebrew words dappled throughout. I can also certainly tell that you enjoyed understanding the historical connections within the Biblical story and the Ancient Near East leading up to the time of Jesus. This clarity was very helpful. A few items would have made this paper even stronger: 1) You mention Adam and Eve and the beginning of Creation. But you don’t mention anything about their vocation. What were they placed in the Garden to do ? (Steward the earth and be fruitful and multiply) 2) You allude to the Exodus, but you don’t mention the concept until a bit later----with reference to John the Baptist and Jesus. I’m glad you included this--- I think it’s important enough to put in the body of your paper. 3) You don’t mention the Law given to the Israelites by God on Mount Sinai or the presence of the Tabernacle as God’s dwelling place until the temple is built. 4) Lastly you could have included reference to the New Heavens/New Earth. What is the final act in the biblical story all about? What will happen to creation and our place in it? Overall, however, beautiful job on your essay!

I'm totally blown away by this - considering how sick I've been recently, and fitting this in around work ...

All those things she mentions were stuff I had to take out because of the wordcount -phooey. Never mind - I'm totally stoked.

aarrrrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Saturday

Lots of dreams this morning - I got so much done! Wrote something deep and meaningful about Solomon's temple; racked the wine; did some painting ... unfortunately, then I woke up. I did at least get a bit of a sleep-in, despite an aching jaw.

Spent the morning at the parent's place, messing with Dad's computer, and supervising Dad and David recreating a stone wall. Went shopping at Countdown - I don't think it's actually any cheaper than Pak n Slave - just a heck of a lot more choice - talk about being led into the path of temptation.

Took this a few days ago, when the whole planking thing was at it's height - not terribly clear, but Smudgy is lying along the back of the couch, and has sort of wedged his legs so he doesn't slide off.

This is 6 separate 5 x 4" canvases. It started off in reds (not my favourite colour), got some blues, purples and a bit of yellow on it, then sprayed with water and blue dye dribbled on it - I love the effect of the dye dribbles. Now it's got a 'swirly' stencil over it, and the gaps have been painted with 2 coats of crackle medium. I intend to dry brush the crackled areas.
After that, it's going to get some scripture stuck on it, then words over the top of that. I'm hoping the stencil pattern will link the canvases together, even when they're separated. It will eventually hang on the wall in the form of a cross.

I'm not sure where (if anywhere) this canvas is going. It started as brayered layers of red, gold and brown, but was too red for my tastes, so I put a bit of white on it. Ugh. Then sprayed it with water, and dribbled blue dye - interesting effect, but I think it looks a bit 'muddy' now. Maybe put some clear texture on it? Or opaque? We'll see.

Or, just put a layer of paint over the whole thing? Or attack it with sandpaper?

I was hoping to get some heavy card (taken from curtain/furniture fabric display books) undercoated for guerilla art, but that may be tomorrow, after church and lunch with friends.

Oooh, look - it's 2300 - not quite the witching hour, but getting too late to do much else.

It's only, nearly, the end of May ...

Well, I just can't procrastinate any longer. Well, I probably could, but I've just been inspired by an article on Guerilla Art. This link will take you there: http://www.clothpaperscissors.com/media/p/4492.aspx

Now I feel inspired to go home, make some art, and leave it around the place. All I need is time! Sigh. Oh well, miracles happen!

So, why have I been procrastinating? Life, the Universe, and everything. I seem to have been sick most of this year, with flu, migraines, headaches, tooth problems etc. Misery and I have been close friends. I've had two wisdom teeth out (36 and 37, your time is up). Both ended up with 'Dry Socket' 'Alveolar osteitis' - the jawbone and nerves at the bottom of the tooth socket are left exposed when there is either no blood clot formed, or it falls out. Being a diabetic, I'm prone to this. The result is unbelieveable, excruciating pain.

Tramadol briefly became my friend, but after a couple of days started giving me the jitters and broken sleep, so I unfriended it. Maxigesic (Neurophen + Panadol) returns to #1 as my preferred form of pain relief.

I'm back at Laidlaw this year, doing Biblical Theology - essay number 2 is due in about 3 weeks - 2000 words on temple/tabernacle. At yesterday's tutorial, I asked the Lecturer, Rod Thompson, to speak on it - he told me how he'd like to see it laid out, and some key points to cover; Solomon's Temple (the high point of the story), look back from Creation till 586bce, then forward to the new Creation in Revelation, and on to the church today. I can do that!!

When I get all the paperwork together - it seems every time I think I'm organised, I realise I've forgotten something - I will be applying to do a Diploma in Biblical Studies, leading on to a Bachelor of Theology, majoring in Biblical Studies. Why Biblical studies - coz I love all those history papers! The ministry papers left me not only cold, but with a feeling of nausea.

I have a couple of projects spread out in my craft room, and hopefully this weekend I'll get a chance to play. The other inspiring thing I've seen lately was called One Brush Painting with Donna Dewberry - very cool, so I'm determined to spend at least a little time painting. Then while things are drying, I'll do ... other stuff.

Other stuff this weekend:
* Go to parents house and supervise husband and father rebuilding stone wall.
* Rack 6 demijohns of fermented grape juice off the lees and rebottle.
* Shopping - for groceries, at Countdown, to see if it is cheaper than Pak n Slave.
* Church on Sunday
* Painting/art work
* Essay writing
* Study for exam on 27 June - ewww a written exam!
* Find out from #1 husband how I hide the link, so it becomes a word
